Health Ghanan sends 121 nurses, healthcare workers to Caribbean under Ghana Labour Exchange Programme
MON, 26 JAN 2026

A total of 121 trained nurses and healthcare professionals have departed Accra for Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago under the government’s Ghana Labour Exchange Programme.

The group left on Monday from the Kotoka International Airport, where they were seen off by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Mr Julius Debrah, and the Minister for Health, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The Ghana Labour Exchange Programme is a government-led initiative aimed at facilitating legal, structured and ethical overseas employment opportunities for Ghanaians, while addressing labour shortages in partner countries.

Beyond job creation, the programme is designed to help reduce unemployment at home and increase foreign exchange inflows into the Ghanaian economy.

The initiative targets both skilled professionals such as nurses, doctors and IT experts, as well as unskilled workers including labourers and farm hands, for deployment to countries with critical workforce needs.
