With just a week to the presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Mussa Dankwah-led Global InfoAnalytics (GIA) has released a ridiculous polls, predicting which candidate would win.
According to the polls, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will secure 57 per cent with the runner-off -- Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, getting 28 per cent while Dr. Bryan Acheampong managing with 13 per cent. Dr. Yaw Adutwum on the other hand is given two per cent of the votes with Mr. Kwabena Adjei Agyapong securing zero per cent.
This polls is not only ridiculous, but also vexatious and must not be taken seriously by the delegates nor the aspirants, including the one it favours. The explanation given to what the pollster described as turn of events is what makes the polls ridiculous. According to Mr. Dankwah, Ken's objection to the anomaly in the NPP's 2026 peace pact explains the drop in his votes.
Why did Ken object to the peace pact? Has he adequately explained his decision to the delegates? First of all, Ken objected to the peace pact because he found Clause two of the pact as a potential threat to the peace and unity of the party after the primaries. This clause sought to bind all the aspirants to accept the outcome of the results, regardless of how the primaries is conducted -- whether or not it is devoid of electoral malpractices.
This is what Ken considered as a recipe for chaos, which to him, might make unity after the primaries impossible. To prevent this, he objected to it and recommended that something be done about it. The Presidential Election Committee found his position prudent and promised to correct the anomaly. After this incident, he took his time to adequately explain his actions to the whole nation, particularly the NPP members.
The NPP delegates are enlightened enough to appreciate the threats to the peace and unity of the party. For this reason, they would rather commend and reward Ken for preventing these threats. It is therefore, ridiculous and vexatious for Mr. Dankwah to turn around to say the NPP delegates are not happy with Ken for objecting to a decision that can endanger the electoral fortunes of the party after the primaries.
It is obvious that Mussa Dankwah is setting an agenda for the total collapse of the NPP so that he can easily predict polls to promote his parochial interests. This attitude is nation-wrecking and must not be entertained.
The NPP delegates are therefore entreated to reject this ridiculous, vexatious polls, to prove to the Executive Director of the GIA that they are not a group of gullible people who easily fall to the manipulations of nation-wreckers.
