The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abu Takoro, has commended the leadership of the Northern Regional Sports Supporters Union (NORSSU) for its dedication to promoting sports development in the Northern Region.

Hon. Takoro made the remarks when he received the Union’s leadership during a courtesy call at his office. The delegation was led by the Chairman of NORSSU, Mr. Ibrahim Abubakari, who also serves as the Deputy National Organizer of the Ghana Supporters Union.

According to the Mayor, the visit provided an opportunity for the Union to formally introduce itself and seek his goodwill, blessings, and support as it works to advance its mandate of promoting and supporting sporting activities within the Northern Region and across the country.

Hon. Abu Takoro expressed appreciation to the NORSSU leadership for the visit and praised the Union for its contributions to sports development. He assured the delegation of his readiness to collaborate with them and provide the necessary support to enhance sports growth in the region.

In his remarks, Mr. Ibrahim Abubakari thanked the Mayor for his openness, partnership, and accessibility, noting that such leadership encourages stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to sports and youth development.

The engagement concluded with a shared commitment between the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and NORSSU to work together to promote sports development, strengthen peace, and enhance positive youth engagement in the Northern Region. Members of the delegation also shared fond memories with the Mayor during the interaction.

The delegation included Alhaji Bako Alhassan, popularly known as “Samatan Killer,” and Hajia Rashida Mandeya, among other members of the Union.
