Ghana will host the first-ever edition of the expanded Future of Digital Country (FDC) Summit outside Egypt on Thursday, November 27, positioning the country as a hub for West Africa’s digital transformation.
Organized in partnership with the Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT) and Future Digital Centres (FDC), the summit will bring together policymakers, technology leaders, innovators, academics, and investors to advance digital governance, infrastructure, innovation, and cybersecurity across the region.
Themed “Accelerating Digital Transformation in West Africa,” the summit aims to foster inclusive economic growth through technology and cross-border collaboration.
A high-level Egyptian delegation will also attend, reinforcing South-South partnerships and pan-African tech networks.
Speaking at a media launch on Wednesday, November 26, Tarek Shabaka, Chairman of the FDC Summit and CEO of Mideast Communication Systems, highlighted Ghana’s readiness to host the event and its growing tech ecosystem.
“Ghana is not only ready for digital transformation, it is a true partner in shaping Africa’s digital future, with a stable investment environment, a dynamic ecosystem of talent, and strong commitment to cybersecurity and data protection,” he said.
On his part, Kwasi Atuahene, Executive Director of the Africa Center for Digital Transformation, noted that Africa must build its digital systems from the ground up rather than simply upgrading legacy structures.
“Africa’s digital future is not just another topic; it is an urgent, transformative opportunity. By building digital foundations from the ground up, we can embed inclusion, data sovereignty, equity, and trust into our digital economies,” he said.
Dzifa Gunu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited, underlined the organisation’s role in supporting young innovators and startups.
“We are committed to creating spaces and opportunities where talent can grow, startups can thrive, and Ghana’s digital ecosystem can become stronger, more secure, and inclusive for all,” he said.
The summit, set to take place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, will include representatives from the Cybersecurity Authority, the National Information Technology Agency, and other key institutions.
Discussions will focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, fostering innovation, and enhancing cybersecurity across West Africa.
