Ghana’s New Ambassador Presents Credentials to UN Secretary‑General

New York, 14 November 2025 – His Excellency Samuel Yao Kumah has formally presented his Letters of Credence as Ghana’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations to Secretary‑General António Guterres at UN Headquarters.

Ambassador Kumah conveyed greetings from the President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and reaffirmed Ghana’s strong commitment to multilateralism and the principles of the UN Charter. He pledged Ghana’s continued collaboration with the United Nations and its Member States to advance peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights.

Commending the Secretary‑General’s leadership during a period of global geopolitical tensions, Ambassador Kumah praised the UN80 Initiative as a landmark effort to strengthen the Organization’s ability to address today’s complex challenges.

Secretary‑General Guterres welcomed Ambassador Kumah, describing Ghana as a steadfast partner of the United Nations and a pillar of multilateralism. He highlighted Ghana’s vibrant democracy, commitment to good governance, and leadership in addressing challenges in West Africa and the Sahel. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Kumah’s tenure would deepen Ghana’s longstanding cooperation with the UN and serve as a strong voice for Africa.

The Secretary‑General asked Ambassador Kumah to convey his best wishes to President Mahama and reaffirmed Ghana’s role as a key member of the United Nations
