The Yawusukrom community in the Dormaa West District has been thrown into mourning after a woman believed to be seven to eight months pregnant was discovered dead on her family’s farm on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The deceased, identified as 33-year-old Haiga, reportedly left home earlier in the day to harvest okra from her family’s new farm but never returned.
According to her husband, Elder Kumbur Bright, popularly known as Elder Bright, he arrived home around 6:00 p.m. and became alarmed when his wife’s younger sister informed him that Haiga had not yet returned from the farm. Fearing the worst, he immediately set out to search for her.
Upon reaching the farm, Elder Bright was confronted with the horrifying sight of his wife’s lifeless body. He quickly called for help, and the incident was reported to the Nkrankwanta Police.
Police officers from the Nkrankwanta District reportedly arrived at the scene later that night, between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, and conveyed the body for further examination and investigation.
Though details remain unconfirmed, some witnesses alleged that the deceased may have been attacked, describing the scene as “gruesome.” Residents who accompanied police to the location reportedly broke down in tears upon seeing the body.
The police have launched a full investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of Madam Haiga, as the community grapples with shock and grief.
