Former Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of deceiving Ghanaians into voting it into power with lies and lofty promises.
According to her, the Mahama-led administration did not win the 2024 elections because Ghanaians preferred it, but because the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had lost the trust of the people due to internal challenges.
In a social media post on Monday, October 20, she said the NPP must now unite, reorganize, and restore public confidence in the party to recapture power in 2028, by which time, she noted Ghanaians will be calling for change.
“This caretaker NDC government is there not just because they are preferred; they are there because they lied their way into government, amidst lofty promises, and caused belief in us to wane. But we will revive it,” she stated.
This comes after the former Ablekuma West MP declared her intention to contest the position of General Secretary of the NPP.
She said the party is currently at a crossroad and need a proven fighter to rebuild and energize its base for victory in the next general elections.
“On this day of my birth, Patriots, I come before you — the fighter you have always known. Nurtured, proven, and prepared over the years... come to you in all humility, to ask you, dear patriots, to join me on this rescue mission as your next General Secretary,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, she joins other party stalwarts, including former Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh and former Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi, who have also declared their intention to contest the General Secretary position.
