The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) has amicably resolved a dispute with the Sunyani Traditional Council regarding a construction project at its Sunyani office.
The issue arose when the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, ordered a halt to the project following concerns from residents. A formal meeting was subsequently held between NEDCO officials and the Traditional Council to address the matter.
During the meeting, NEDCO issued an unreserved apology for failing to consult the Traditional Council before commencing the project.
The company assured the Council of its commitment to the development of Sunyani and clarified that the construction of a low-rise building was necessary due to the presence of critical underground cables that could not support a multi-storey structure.
After reviewing the explanation and apology, the Omanhene and his Council accepted NEDCO’s position and granted approval for the project to continue.
