Rev. Obed Danquah outdoored as Adontenhene of Gomoa Abrekum

The Chief Executive Officer of Morgan International Community School at Gomoa Manso in the Gomoa Central District, Rev. Obed Danquah, has been outdoored as the Adontenhene of Gomoa Abrekum in the Gomoa West District, under the stool name Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah I.

He has also been installed as Nkabomhene (Chief Abstractor) of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, a role aimed at promoting unity and peaceful coexistence within the traditional jurisdiction.

The installation rites, which were performed in line with the customs and traditions of the land, took place on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Gomoa Abrekum.

Speaking to the media before his confinement, Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah I pledged to prioritise peace and stability in the community, stressing that unity is the foundation of development.

“Chieftaincy dispute in Gomoa Abrekum started as far back as 1928 between the two gates of the Asona Royal Family, fighting over who should be installed as the substantive occupant of the Black Stool. This prolonged dispute dragged on until I returned from the USA to support abstraction and help resolve the issue amicably,” he explained.

He further noted, “Through the wisdom of Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, a separate stool has been created as Adontenhene of Gomoa Abrekum because the substantive chief automatically qualifies as Adontenhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area. I have also been elevated to the position of Nkabomhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, an idea from Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI to promote peaceful coexistence with the Asona Royal Family and the community as a whole.”

The newly outdoored Adontenhene expressed concern over the long-standing chieftaincy conflict, which he said had stalled both human and infrastructural development and left the people in economic hardship.

“I am going to work assiduously with the support of Nananom in Gomoa Abrekum and beyond to ensure that our beloved community regains its lost glory. Unemployment among the youth is high because of the dispute. Fisherfolk, in particular, have not had peace of mind to go about their work effectively to feed their families,” he lamented.

Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah I expressed his gratitude to the Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, and his elders for their role in resolving the dispute.

“I will continue to appreciate Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, and his Nananom for making this day possible for the good people of Gomoa Abrekum. As I always say, I am going to partner with Nana to reclaim our lost identity and properties,” he emphasised.
