
Toronto, ON – The Toronto Police Service (TPS) has announced the arrest of John Mensah, 38, of Toronto, following a major drug and firearm investigation that led to the recovery of dangerous narcotics, illegal weapons, and cash.
The arrest was disclosed in a press release by Constable Laurie McCann on August 18, 2025.
According to police, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, officers from the Drug Squad, supported by the Emergency Task Force, executed two search warrants—one at a residence near Jane Street and Finch Avenue and another on a vehicle linked to Mensah.
Investigators alleged Mensah was trafficking fentanyl and other illicit drugs across the city. The searches uncovered from his residence the following: Glock 22, 40 caliber semiautomatic handgun with to magazines, 25 rounds of ammunition, approximately 630 grams of cocaine, large quantity of Canadian currency and three cellular phones and two digital scales.
The police searches in a vehicle also uncovered loaded Glock 27.40 caliber semiautomatic handgun with 14 rounds of ammunition, approximately 107 grams of fentanyl, approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 5 grams of cocaine, a scale and firearm holster.
Mensah is facing a total of 18 charges, including, trafficking in schedule I substance, possession of proceeds of crime [under and over $5000], and three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He was also charged with multiple firearms-related offences, including possession of prohibited devices, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and careless storage of firearms and ammunition, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number and possession contrary to prohibition order.
He appeared in court on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West.
Toronto Police Service emphasized that fentanyl trafficking and illegal firearms continue to pose a grave risk to community safety.
