We’re deeply moved by the outpouring of solidarity following helicopter crash — Presidency

The Presidency has expressed appreciation to Ghanaians and the international community for the overwhelming support shown after the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.

In a statement signed by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the government said they were touched by the compassion and unity demonstrated in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The statement dated August 18, further pointed out that chiefs, religious leaders, political figures, civil society, security agencies, and citizens from all walks of life stood together to console the bereaved families and honour the victims.

“We are deeply moved by the outpouring of solidarity shown across the nation and beyond,” the statement noted.

It added that messages of sympathy, attendance at the state funeral, and various acts of kindness offered comfort during a difficult period.

The government also expressed gratitude to corporate organisations and individuals who supported the burial arrangements.

“Your messages of sympathy, your attendance at the state funeral, your practical assistance, and the many acts of kindness extended to the bereaved families have provided great consolation in this time of sorrow,” it added.

The Chief of Staff has since directed that flags at all public buildings be raised back to full mast following the conclusion of the state funeral.

The Presidency urged Ghanaians to remain united in prayer and to continue supporting the families as the country moves forward with the task of nation-building.
