Atlanta’s summer GhanaFest 2025 attracted a record crowd to the Blackburn Park, delivering a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture, gourmet, music, and reignited community spirit in the State of Georgia, United States.

Themed “Bridging the gap between the Young and Old”, it was organized by the Ghana Council of Georgia, and has been hailed as one of the most successful festivals in recent years, attracting people from all walks of life.

There was a parade of traditional chiefs in colorful regalia, representing Ghana’s rich heritage. This was followed by spectacular traditional dances performed by the 16-member organization that constitute the Ghana Council of Georgia. These performances set up a lively and spirited tone for the commencement of this annual festival.

Guests were treated to assorted Ghanaian dishes, prepared by tribal associations and community organizations, offering a true taste of home foods. The event also featured an arts and crafts marketplace, and showcased travel and tourism packages, as well as booths promoting local businesses and services.

The event was sponsored by PassportPay (Title Sponsor) and co-sponsored by Rapid Courier ( Platinum Sponsor), Immigration firm - Fibi Law, Will Van Tax Services, American Family Insurance, Ocean Marine, Kids Time Academy, Abrokyire Kenkeny, Town Lake Family Pharmacy among others.

Ing. Matthew Abakah Jr, Chairman, GhanaFest committee, amplified the essence of the festival, and how it is gradually becoming a meeting place for reconnecting Ghanaians in the State of Georgia and beyond.

“I think we accomplished our mission of bridging the proverbial gap, and the harmonious blend of generations was glaring”, Abakah, who is also the President, Mfantsiman Association of Georgia, and vice chairman of the Ghana Council, emphasized.

Abakah said the entertainment lineup reflected this unity the festival sought to achieve, with performances from rising local talents - Rizon, B Bonics, and K Rocks, alongside celebrated Ghanaian superstars- Kofi Kinaata, and legendary highlife icon Gyedu-Blay Ambolley.

It was the cynosure of all eyes as “young and old folks” joined in the celebration, dancing and singing together late into the evening.

Kofi Conduah, founder of PassportPay, a trailblazing remittance company, was given a special reception for his role in festival’s success.

Passport pay is reshaping money transfers to Ghana by adding bill payment functionality, allowing customers to pay directly for services without intermediaries.

This, Abakah noted, made this year’s celebrations special and left the community appreciating such a remarkable innovation.

As the music faded and the sun set over Blackburn Park, one thing was clear, that Atlanta’s GhanaFest 2025 was more than just a festival, it achieved its purpose of bridging the generational gap, whilst showcasing Ghana’s rich and vibrant culture.

“This is a testament to the power of communal harmony and cultural diversity “, Abakah concluded.
