The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has officially commenced the training of the first batch of 5,000 youth under the Fire Assistants Module.

This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May this year between the GNFS and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to recruit 5,000 Fire Service Assistants, aimed at enhancing fire safety and emergency response capabilities nationwide while creating employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Friday at the Fire Service Training School in James Town, the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Mr. Malik Basintale, expressed gratitude to the Ghana Fire Service for its partnership and commitment to the success of the programme.

He emphasised that the collaboration extends beyond job creation, aiming to nurture a disciplined and service-oriented generation.

Mr. Basintale noted that the trainees symbolize renewed hope and a firm commitment to strengthening Ghana’s safety infrastructure.

“The training marks another success in YEA’s agenda to provide employment opportunities for young Ghanaians through strategic partnerships,” he stated.

The Acting Chief Fire Officer, DCFO Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, commended the initiative as a timely intervention designed to equip the youth with essential emergency response skills while enhancing public safety.
