Trucks Crawling with Purpose: God's Grace for The Heavily Laden!

Feature Article Trucks Crawling with Purpose: Gods Grace for The Heavily Laden!
MON, 21 JUL 2025 1

This weekend, as I drove along the Accra – Kumasi highway, something profound struck me. I sped along at an average of 100km per hour, overtaking several heavy-duty trucks that crawled painfully at less than 20km per hour. Some were tilted badly under the pressure of their load, struggling up the hilly stretches with wheels grinding noisily along.

Then the Holy Spirit whispered two questions into my spirit in the middle of a good conversation on the Will of God, with my guest:

1. Have you wondered why these trucks are moving slowly?

2. What are they carrying and who benefits?
This was different. It certainly was not my first time seeing these trucks along the highways but this awareness was enough light for a dark room. It was a gentle nudge but one I could not shake off. It interrupted my thoughts and was so dominant as all promptings from God as I’ve known, can be. For someone who once owned a transport and logistics company, the answers to these questions came alive vividly. I know too well what it means to run a freight company and what transporters go through daily. I know the sleepless nights. I know the frantic calls at midnight; “Boss, tyre burst oo” or “A hydraulic hose just broke and I am stuck in the middle of nowhere.” I know how drivers can be stranded for days while we mobilize money and parts to fix a breakdown. Yet, for all that stress, the rule in truck business is simple; once a consignment is loaded, it must be delivered at all cost.

Unless a truck is involved in a deadly accident that renders it completely useless, no load is ever abandoned or transferred onto another. The same truck must be equipped to deliver! It would be seen as a threat and hazardous in so many instances as it makes its way through wear and tear, frustrations, fear of the unknown, resilience and steady progress, to its final destination. The driver sleeps by the roadside if he has to, abandoning family for days or weeks. He gets insulted by impatient road users if they must. He endures the scorn of those who think he is wasting their precious time. But he keeps moving! Why? Because the truck does not carry its own convenience; it carries the needs of a nation. It moves so that industries can receive raw materials. It crawls so that entire communities can be fed. Indeed, the weight that slows it down is the very reason thousands will smile tomorrow.

A scripture comes to mind;
Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

As I drove past those trucks, the Holy Spirit made it clear. This is life for anyone who carries the weight of purpose.

The world does not always understand those who carry God’s burdens. People will despise you because in their estimations, your progress does not look fast enough. They will compare their speed to yours, boasting in their fleeting accomplishments, not knowing that you are not running the same race. They may be small cars darting about freely, while you are a heavy-duty truck assigned to carry supplies for an entire generation.

You may feel like your life is moving at tortoise pace. You may even be tempted to envy those who seem to have it all together; marriage, money, fame, influence; while you are still struggling to find your footing. But pause and think. What are you carrying? Who are you carrying it for?

God does not load His vessels carelessly. If you carry the weight of destiny, you will feel its drag. If you exist to advance the cause of others, you will battle frustrations and breakdowns. The world system is dark and engineered to frustrate anything that brings light. Do not compare yourself to others whose assignments are not remotely like yours. Their speed is not your speed! Your mission is not their mission!

Remember the trucks, they do not envy the small cars! Their calling is different.

They are not built like salon cars. They are equipped with formidable engines, special tyres and hydraulic systems designed to carry weight. When something breaks, the manufacturer has made provisions for replacements. If that much thought goes into the design of trucks, how much more for you, the vessel of God?

Jesus Himself extends this invitation in Matthew 11:28; “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Your journey will be tough, but you are not left to struggle alone. God never assigns weight without equipping you to carry it. The Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 9:8; “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

Just as trucks eventually receive every part they need to keep moving, whether it is a tyre, oil or hydraulics, God will always supply every grace you need for your journey. You may experience breakdowns, delays and seasons where you seem stranded, but if the load was placed on you by God, help will come. And when help comes from Him, it is never late, never wasted and never in vain.

This is why total dependence on God is non-negotiable. Only the One who loaded you with that weight understands the help you truly need. Many may attempt to help you, but if they lack understanding of your journey, their help may do more harm than good. That is why David could boldly declare in Psalm 121:2; “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

If you need deeper insight into how to receive and offer the right kind of help, I recommend you get a copy of my book, HELP: What it Means, How to Offer and How to Receive. You will find wisdom there that may save you years of frustration.

When a truck finally reaches its destination, no one remembers how long it delayed on the highway. What matters is that the goods arrive intact. And isn’t that the same with your life? You are being refined by this weight, not crushed by it. Job, in his own season of unimaginable pain, declared by faith; “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10).

The fire you are going through is not to destroy you, it is to purify you. The breakdowns are not to stop you, they are to teach you total dependence on God. The scorn you face from people is not to humiliate you, it is to keep you humble while God works out His purpose in you.

One day, your story will inspire many. Your endurance will encourage others to endure. Your testimony will be the fuel someone else needs to keep going. Your weight is not for you, it is for others.

So, do not despise your slow pace. Do not abandon your journey because others seem faster. You are a truck carrying a divine consignment. Someone’s joy, someone’s healing, someone’s hope depends on you reaching your destination. You cannot give up.

The world may not understand now, but when you finally deliver, they will thank God for your obedience. Trust the One who loaded you. Depend entirely on His grace. Rest when you must, but do not quit. And as you move, remember this; you are not just carrying a load, you are carrying lives.

This message may be for you today! Hold on! Trust God. You will deliver! And when you do, you will shine, not for your glory, but for the good of many and for the glory of God.
