66% of voters who boycotted 2024 elections will vote for Mahama if given the chance today — Poll

A new poll by independent research firm Global InfoAnalytics shows that 66% of voters who boycotted the 2024 general elections would vote for President John Dramani Mahama if given another opportunity.

This comes months after the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which lost the elections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by over 1.7 million votes, blamed voter apathy for its defeat.

Key party figures, including former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have repeatedly said the party would have retained power if its 2020 voter base had turned up at the polls.

But in its July 2025 National Tracking Poll released on Tuesday, July 1, Global InfoAnalytics noted that the majority of these non-voters would now throw their support behind the NDC.

“In what could be troubling signs for the NPP, if voters who did not vote in the 2024 elections were to be given another chance to vote, the results would likely be worse than in 2024.

“Voters who did not vote in the 2024 elections and want to vote if given the chance will vote 66% JDM, 24% DMB, and 10% others,” said Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics.

The poll also revealed a significant shift in public approval for President Mahama across all regions.

“Majority of voters in all the regions approve of his job performance, signalling a major shift in polling history where voters from the stronghold of the main opposition party approve of the performance of the president,” the report stated.

However, approval among NPP supporters remains divided. While 43% of NPP voters approve of President Mahama’s performance, 46% disapprove.
