BB Humanity Foundation launches ambitious AgriRise Empowerment Programme in Gomoa Districts

The BB Humanity Foundation, a dynamic and community-driven non-profit organisation, is preparing to roll out a transformative agriculture and empowerment initiative in selected areas of the Gomoa districts.

Operating under its flagship AgriRise Strategy, the Foundation is partnering with District Agricultural Offices to provide technical and financial training to farmers—especially youth and elders—in a bid to promote sustainable livelihoods and inclusive rural development.

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Foundation convened a successful series of stakeholder engagements in Awombrew, Gomoa Central, where it met with traditional leaders and landowners to discuss access to farmlands for the upcoming programme. Targeted locations for the project include Awombrew, Otsew (Gomoa West), and Gomoa Adzentem (Gomoa East). These areas have been earmarked for the cultivation of maize, cassava, pepper, and ginger. While the engagements were promising, formal land acquisition processes are still in progress.

Set to commence by the end of September 2025, the programme will roll out in two main phases:

Technical Training in Crop Farming
Led by officers from the District Agricultural Offices, this phase will provide hands-on instruction in climate-smart agricultural practices, pest control, land preparation, sustainable farming techniques, and post-harvest processing. The objective is to increase productivity, reduce losses, and boost food security by enhancing skills in staple crop farming.

Financial Literacy and Engagement with ADB Bank

The second phase focuses on empowering farmers with sound financial management skills and direct engagement with the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB). Participants will receive training in budgeting, savings, accessing agricultural credit, and building financially sustainable agribusinesses. The programme will also demystify banking for rural farmers, teaching them how to confidently engage financial institutions and secure support.

According to Mr. Bright Botchway, CEO of BB Humanity Foundation, the initiative takes a holistic approach to rural empowerment. “This program is about restoring dignity through agriculture,” he stated. “By combining expert guidance from Agric Officers with strategic engagement with ADB, we’re equipping our people—especially our youth and elders—with the knowledge and tools to farm smarter and thrive.”

The initial phase is expected to directly benefit over 1,000 farmers, with a particular focus on young people and the elderly. By working hand in hand with traditional leaders, local authorities, and agricultural experts, the Foundation is committed to ensuring the programme is inclusive, community-led, and sustainable.

As part of its broader mandate in public health, gender equality, inclusive tourism, and disability advocacy, the BB Humanity Foundation sees this rural agricultural drive as a cornerstone for long-term community transformation. It is a bold reminder that lasting development begins with empowering people—starting with the land they cultivate and the skills they cultivate with it.
