Headlines SC nominee Justice Ackaah-Boafo faces Appointments Committee today after petition delay
FRI, 20 JUN 2025

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is set to resume the vetting of Supreme Court nominee Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo today, Friday, June 20, 2025, following the resolution of an earlier suspension prompted by a petition against him.

The process was temporarily halted after one Anthony Kwabenya Rau submitted a petition accusing the nominee of misconduct during a previous court case.

According to Rau, Justice Ackaah-Boafo allegedly insulted and demeaned him in open court, describing him as “arrogant” and “power drunk.” The nominee has categorically denied these claims.

With the issue reviewed and cleared for continuation, Justice Ackaah-Boafo will now face questioning from the Committee. He is the last of seven justices nominated by former President John Dramani Mahama for elevation from the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court.

Today’s vetting will conclude the Committee’s assessment of all the nominees. Once the vetting is complete, the Committee will present its final report and recommendations to the full House for a vote on approval or rejection.
