The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has initiated discussions with Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Shatta Wale, CEO of Shaxi, to explore a potential partnership aimed at boosting job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
The proposed collaboration seeks to leverage Shaxi’s ride-hailing platform to create sustainable employment for young people across the country.
Launched in December 2021, Shaxi was Shatta Wale’s response to youth unemployment, offering a locally driven alternative in the transport sector. The service enables drivers to register for a daily fee of GHS 20, allowing them to work flexibly and independently.
Shaxi provides affordable and comfortable transportation while prioritizing job creation over profit. With a mission rooted in digital innovation, the company is focused on empowering the unemployed through access to meaningful work in the ride-hailing ecosystem.
A partnership between YEA and Shaxi could play a pivotal role in addressing Ghana’s youth unemployment challenges. The collaboration also represents a broader effort to support homegrown businesses that are committed to social impact. As the initiative unfolds, more details are expected on how it will be implemented and its potential benefits for the national economy.
