The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, located in the Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo, was apprehended during a targeted police operation aimed at securing all entry and exit points of the township. The operation formed part of a heightened security response following recent violence and a deadly reprisal attack in the area.
According to police, the following items were seized from the suspect: two pump-action guns, 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest.
Abdul Rauf Salami is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days to face charges related to the unlawful possession of weapons.
Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to restoring and maintaining peace in the community. “We would like to assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri township. We therefore urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police,” the officer in charge stated.

That Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency is becoming a notorious place for carrying out illegal things. Before the election, a man was also arrested in possession of one of EC's missing electoral computers, and today, illegal firearms. God only knows what the next arrested person would be carrying. The law must work better to limit these security threats.
