The Assembly Hall of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly erupted in celebration on Thursday, March 15, 2025, after members unanimously endorsed President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee, Hon. Adzowu Kofi William, as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Hon. Adzowu secured all 28 votes cast, achieving a 100% endorsement in an election supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission.
Prior to his confirmation, the Assembly also endorsed Hon. Alfred Fosu Donkor as the Presiding Member. His sole contender, Hon. Jibrine Jalil, withdrew from the race following an earlier unsuccessful bid.
National DRIP Coordinator, Hon. Nii Lante Vandapuye, used the occasion to urge Assembly Members to set aside their differences and support both the newly confirmed MCE and Presiding Member in the collective interest of the Municipality.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Adzowu Kofi William expressed deep gratitude to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve, and also thanked traditional authorities (Nananom) and Assembly Members for their overwhelming support.
“This is a victory for unity,” he said.
He pledged to work tirelessly to improve the lives of residents, with particular focus on rehabilitating inner roads, completing the Assembly’s Administration Block, relocating the Timber Market to Boete Senet, and constructing an alternative route to ease traffic congestion within the Municipality.
