ACCPA Welcomes Chinese Ambassador for Strategic Dialogue on Strengthening Ghana-China Cooperation

The Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), a leading Sino-African research and policy think tank headquartered in Accra, proudly hosted the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, at its headquarters for a high-level engagement aimed at deepening mutual understanding and promoting a mutually beneficial partnership between Ghana and China.

The meeting brought together key members of the ACCPA team and the Ambassador’s delegation for a productive dialogue centered on mutual learning, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of Ghana-China relations in the context of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

During the meeting, Paul Frimpong, the Executive Director of ACCPA, emphasized his organization’s commitment to providing unbiased policy research and strategic guidance to foster win-win cooperation between Africa and China. He reiterated the Centre’s role in shaping informed policy conversations and facilitating knowledge exchange to ensure that Ghana and Africa at large derive maximum benefit from their partnership with China.

Ambassador Tong Defa, in his remarks, highlighted the long-standing friendship between Ghana and China and reaffirmed his dedication to working closely with Ghanaian partners to elevate bilateral relations to new heights. He underscored the importance of mutual respect, shared learning, and people-to-people ties as the bedrock of successful cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions also explored avenues for deepening collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, education, and industrialization, with a shared vision of supporting Ghana’s national development agenda and contributing to Africa’s broader modernization efforts.

Reflecting on the significance of the 65th anniversary, both parties expressed optimism for the future of Ghana-China relations and committed to ongoing dialogue, joint research, and policy advisory initiatives that will further strengthen the partnership in the years ahead.
