Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has reaffirmed the healing power found in Christ’s suffering, declaring that believers do not need elaborate prayers to receive healing.
Speaking during the church’s Good Friday service at Christ Temple in East Teshie, Accra, Pastor Otabil said, “When something goes wrong in our bodies, we can ask Him for healing and it has nothing to do with whether we know how to pray well or not.”
Themed “By His Stripes We Are Healed”, the service drew its message from Isaiah 53:4-5, a scripture that highlights Christ’s suffering as the foundation of spiritual and physical healing.
Pastor Otabil explained that through the stripes Christ endured on Good Friday, He bore the pain of sickness on behalf of humanity, and that healing is activated by faith in that sacrifice. “But we trust in what He has done for us and by trusting in Him, we receive the benefit of what He died for,” he added.
He referenced the biblical account of Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in-law with a simple touch, emphasising that the miracle did not come through loud or extended prayer.
“You may not need somebody to scream on you to get well. Just know that Jesus is here and just as He touched Peter’s mother-in-law, He will heal you. You don’t need too much prayer to get healed,” he stated.
Encouraging the congregation to reflect on the significance of Christ’s sacrifice, Pastor Otabil reminded them that Jesus had already carried the sickness and pain of mankind. He called on believers to demonstrate genuine faith to receive their healing.
