Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has officially been confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), following a strong endorsement from Assembly Members.
Boadi, who previously held the position of Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi during the tenure of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to take up the top role at KMA.
His confirmation came after a near-unanimous vote in his favor—he secured 55 out of the 56 votes cast during the Assembly’s confirmation session.
Speaking at the confirmation ceremony, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene charged the newly confirmed Mayor to focus on pressing urban issues, including decongesting the city, improving sanitation, and resolving persistent challenges at the Kejetia Market.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that these challenges have hindered Kumasi’s development for far too long and assured that the Regional Coordinating Council will work closely with the KMA to find lasting solutions to the city’s problems.
