Ghana and Africa: A Call For The Death Penalty

Ghana and Africa: A Call For The Death Penalty

My broda in arms Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy:
Let me congratulate you in your article but remind you one weakness we as a people have had since the ancient Ghana empire is Lack of discipline!

Ibn Battutah wrote that! And I came across that when doing my research. But we of this generation can and must change it!

The one African leader to win admiration in history who created an atmosphere of discipline even out of a backward African military and society was Shaka Zulu in the late 19th century. And you will remember (if you saw the TV Series in the 1980s) that Capital Punishment was key to his disciplinary methods of success!

Shaka used to hang people on wooden stakes in a public arena and would leave the bodies for the birds to eat the flesh!

Note in our culture the best thing we seem to “respect” and everybody will stop for is DEATH! Yes! Owuo!

I hereby suggest that Ghana should introduce capital punishment for public crimes against the state and hence people of Ghana! There has been too much revelation of crimes in the last three months, of deliberate national sabotage and public stealing in the last eight years, examples of massive public theft at the expense of the suffering population!

Public service delivery of basic water and electricity is a shame! I can document the number of times in the last month my staff have called Electricians in Ghana to change phases for interrupted or black out electricity in the house and guest House where we have customers!

We can add one pain and anxiety I faced about water last year in the same East Legon house! And my broda, this is on the main Boundary Road!

The weird solution the Ghana Water finally gave me: disconnect my old pipeline and connect to a new pipe line that guarantees water 2x per week! It had cost me no less than 40,000 already trying private wells and Poly tanks and Reverse Osmosis systems, and I had no choice but try this last suggestion of GWCL for 7,000.

During the process I spent another 15,000 or so buying water from tanker trucks- 900 every three days!

It hurts so much when we find out nothing public will work and we resort to individual private expenses like Water Wells and Power Generators while we have the means to provide for all in society and share the cost among stakeholders (as they call it there)6- the homeowners!

The fact that 60 years after Independence we are still unable to use modern established methods to provide water and Electricity to those who can afford to pay, makes for a very sad disgraceful and major failure in discipline!

We can list the many failures and deliberate fraud in Ghana government! It is my sad and humble conclusion after careful thinking in the last 40 years after the last military dictatorship, that we need to institute the DEATH PENALTY in GHANA for some level of public crimes. My only advice: please make it a public trial and not a military junta firing squad without a fair and open trial.

It appears our people will not respect any laws once elected and appointed and in power! Let us hang them in public- and let the children behind learn!
