The alleged negligence of Kofi Job Construction has led to the deaths of thousands of birds at Serwaa Kwality Farms, located in Bebu within the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident, which occurred on March 18, 2025, comes at a time when the Mahama government is prioritizing the revival of the poultry industry through its 'Nkoko Nketiti' initiative.
Legal representatives for Serwaa Kwality Farms have accused employees of the construction company of failing to exercise caution during a heavy downpour, leading to the destruction of their client’s poultry stock.
Nana Obiri Boahen, lead solicitor from ‘Nso Nyame Ye’ Chambers, acting on behalf of Serwaa Kwality Farms, has demanded GHS100 million in compensation from the construction firm.
“Our instructions hold that, as a result of the negligence and carelessness of your employees by failing to respect and accord other ‘users’ of the road, a heavy downpour on the 18th day of March, 2025, resulted in the death of thousands of fowls/birds belonging to our client.
“We are therefore by this letter demanding a compensation of One Hundred Million Ghana Cedis. This request must be acceded to on or before the end of April 2025.
“We will not hesitate seeking redress in court if this request is not timely considered,” Obiri Boahen stated.

Kofi Job Construction has faced previous criticism for failing to complete major projects, including the Kenyase-Hwidiem road, despite receiving full payment.
The Kenyase-Hwidiem road project, originally estimated at GHC71 million and later re-evaluated to GHC95.4 million due to Ghana’s economic downturn in 2022, was abandoned, leaving the affected communities in distress.
The company’s track record of negligence and uncompleted projects has fueled calls for greater accountability. The Bebu incident further underscores the need for construction firms to prioritize safety and ensure their operations do not negatively impact surrounding businesses and communities.
