Stop Defending Corrupt Christians,Christianity Is not a Cult

The Attorney General yesterday opened a can of worms in his brief to the media about ORAL.Amongst the many things said, the allegations levelled against the former boss of the National Signals Bureau and everything uncovered by far has been intriguing.

Cut to the chase, I noticed on social media, some Christians coming to defence of the NSB boss, trying very hard to white wash his image.I was not so surprised as some renowned religious leaders have clearly become agents or brokers of injustice, pulling their weight to make sure wrongdoers get away with crime by leaning their influence on the powers that be to temper justice with mercy.

That to a large extent is evil.It is shameful, hypocritical and contravenes what the bible states in Exodus 23:1-2,Proverbs 17:15,Ephesians 5:11 and several other verses.

Is Christianity a cult? No!So you can't be a Christian and be exhibiting tendencies that are characteristic of secret societies. Defending a public office holder found culpable of corruption is the kind of blind loyalty that is akin to secret societies and occult groups.

A lot of secret societies have a guiding principle and slogan "all for one,one for all" which is a pledge to be at the service and defence of a member in times of need and more. This slogan which has been rephrased in usage, goes back several centuries, but was popularised by Alexandre Dumas in the 1800's in his famous book "The Three Musketeers". The wordings of the phrase may differ among these societies but the principle is the same.

Indeed when you watch the controversial French movie "Forces Occultes" which is purported to be an anti-masonic smear campaign/propaganda, during the intiation of the protagonist Pierre Avenel,a similar pledge was recited. This several centuries old principle has percolated our social structures and has been compacted into many systems of the world that are secular to Christianity.

Interestingly,I have primarily seen this principle being religiously adopted by the military, whereby they look out for each other. That is good. The principle may be relevant and inspiring to many institutions and bodies but may discolor the picture christianity has painted for itself since it's introduction to Ghanaians by the Portuguese when they arrived in 1471.

Christians, churches,Christian bodies, pro Christian societies and groups will not be different from the occult groups they speak so much against if they decide to go by a such a tenet. This will be double standards and will defeat very many things that Christianity stands for.

If the NSB boss is found culpable, he should not be defended by Christians blindly to show loyalty. It does not matter if he is a deacon of a big church, supports his church and poses as a guiding light to many.

Such a posture promotes corruption and stagnates the growth of this nation. This may be one of the reasons why some Christians make tin gods out of their leaders and remain blind to the wrongs they do.They literally worship their pastors and religious leaders without appreciation for the first commandment. How different is this from a cult ?

Powerful Christian leaders must stop making efforts to grind slow the wheels of justice and accountability by defending,white-washing the image, pleading on behalf of criminals in a bit to enable them evade justice or obstract it.That is a capital sin and such religious leaders themselves must be corrupt, morally deficient and unworthy of reverence.
