Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has acknowledged the success of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalisation agenda, stating that recent developments confirm the effectiveness of his vision.
According to Mr. Cudjoe, the government’s investment in digital infrastructure has significantly improved efficiency across various sectors, dispelling initial scepticism. He cited data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), which linked the country’s higher economic growth in 2024 to digitalisation.
This, he noted, aligns with comments made by former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin at a press conference earlier this month. Based on the GSS data, Mr. Cudjoe agreed that Dr. Amin was right in attributing Ghana’s improved economic performance to Bawumia’s digitalisation initiatives.
Highlighting the impact of these reforms, he pointed to improvements in service delivery, financial inclusion, and governance. “Bawumia’s digitalisation drive has yielded tangible results, making processes easier for businesses and citizens alike,” he stated.
He acknowledged that while there were initial doubts about the feasibility of large-scale digital reforms, Ghana’s progress in digital transformation proves the country is on the right path.
However, Mr. Cudjoe also identified key areas that still need attention, including cybersecurity and better internet accessibility in rural areas. He urged the government to address these challenges to maximise the benefits of digitalisation and ensure inclusive technological advancement for all Ghanaians.

Digitalisation had been ongoing in both the public and private sectors long before Bawumia got into office as vp. For instance, the Accra Digital Centre was established by first Mahama administration, most of the existing fibre optics cable had already been laid by Atta-Mills and Mahama, Controller and Accountant General Dept had moved from hard copy payslips to e-payslips. This deceptive is unacceptable.
