Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency, has lauded the impact of the 2025 budget statement on the country’s economy.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy National Communications Officer claimed that the budget made opposition Members of Parliament believe their party was no longer a viable choice for Ghanaians.
“Yesterday, if you looked at the demeanor of the micro-minority in Parliament, you could see that they felt their party had collapsed,” he said while speaking on Accra-based GHOne TV on Wednesday, March 12.
To ease the financial burden on citizens, the budget, presented to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, proposes the abolition of what they term nuisance taxes.
These include the E-Levy, betting tax, VAT on motor vehicle insurance, and the emission levy on industries and vehicles.
The government is also introducing measures to stabilize the cedi by establishing the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) to enhance foreign exchange reserves.
In the energy sector, renegotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are expected to reduce fixed capacity charges, while metering improvements at ECG and NEDCo aim to boost revenue collection.

Voting for the NPP is something that any self-respecting, knowledgeable Ghanaian will not do today or tomorrow. I have never witnessed a more damaging, incompetent, and corrupt party that believes Ghanaians are stupid and cannot even offer an apology to the people.
