Power Corrupts And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. The Reasons The NDC Will Lose Power

I said it some time ago, and I want to reiterate it again with some clear reasons. In one of Lord Acton's quotes, he says: "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Interestingly, power reveals the true character of people, and this is what we are experiencing under the Chief Clearing Agent, President Mahama, and his cohorts.

The NDC as a political Party is hugely divided, and moving forward, there will be lots of fighting and internal wrangling due to the power they have obtained.

Fast forward, many of their Party folks are hungry, and if care is not taken, they will turn to have huge cracks, I mean unamendable ones, of course, for the coming days, weeks, months, and years.

Objectively, the Chief Clearing Agent won't have it easy to please his Party folks and Ghanaians at the same since the expectations are high and no amount of excuses would be accepted.

The expectations of NDC members are unimaginable and the Chief Clearing Agent won't fulfill all within the 4 years, especially with the lies and vile propaganda adopted during the campaigning period.

Ghana belongs to all, but the arrogance of power to be exhibited by his appointees will be a herculean task considering the hunger to amass wealth and satisfy their cabals.

The President will be challenged with indecisions concerning appointments. Some Party faithful will be disappointed for neglect, and some will accuse their Party leaders of sabotaging them to thrive.

Again, the standards set by the NPP administration will be another challenge for the NDC in the areas of maintaining the Free SHS policy, Nursing and Teacher Training Allowances, and other policies.

On their policies, the Chief Clearing Agent came with juicy promises and policies that he may not be able to fulfill moving forward. First, in the fight against galamsey, NDC bigwigs and members will venture into illegal mining activities and this will defeat their promise to combat this menace.

Another is the promise to reduce some taxes. President Mahama and the NDC, in their manifesto, promised to cancel outrightly some taxes, and notably Ghana is still under an IMF program with conditions to be met.

In addition, the promise is also to fight corruption and also recover alleged loot. This will be an arduous task since some of their appointees will be entangled in serious corruption cases due to the desire to amass wealth.

The issue of ORAL was a major campaign tool for the NDC, and the Chief Clearing Agent, after his inauguration, set up a so-called ORAL committee to gather and take information on alleged state capture by former appointees.

This committee just a few days ago submitted their report to the President for onward action to be taken by the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, who was recently engaged in clearing their own members who were involved in high-profile criminal cases.

In an interview with a member of the ORAL committee, Dr. Yaw Domelovo stated that they needed to do an audit to establish wrongdoing before action could be taken on the majority of the information gathered.

If one takes a cursory look at this scenario above, it clearly exposes the poor job done by the so-called ORAL committee members since their agenda is to persecute former appointees and officials of NPP.

We are a country governed by laws, and this particular committee doesn't have constitutional or prosecutorial powers to recover anything from people they are eager to witch hunt in the coming days.

To buttress my point, just yesterday, the NDC Tamale South Constituency Chairman was on Radio Tamale to clear himself of wrongdoing in the distribution of National Security slots.

In the interview, he stated how unhappy he was concerning the accusing fingers being pointed at him by his own Executives and Party members for clarity on how he shared the ten slots given out by the government.

Chairman Zaa Nye ya, further lamented the mistrust that's creeping in their Party just a month of being in power. He categorically stated if care is not taken, the NDC will lose power, like what happened to the NPP, but he said the NPP will be better than them.

Inasmuch as Ghanaians want the NDC to deliver but what I have mentioned above will continue to hamper and also create serious frictions among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress, NDC.

To be in power is not something one can gloss over, or it's business as usual, but it requires tact, focus, and an all-inclusive approach to solving problems, which can't happen due to interest and show of power.

To conclude, over-reliance on the persecution of former appointees will spell doom for the NDC administration led by the Chief Clearing Agent in the voice of Manasseh Azure Awuni. Indeed, what politicians forget to understand is that power is transient, and power can corrupt and breed arrogance and selfishness.

Shalom!

My Brother, the people have only been in power for less than three months. Why not wish them well and provide pieces of advice that could help them achieve their set goals instead ? Your write up appears to wish them their downfall. My opinion though

Just in....
