Maame Efua Houadjeto, former Deputy Women's Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party's Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
Houadjeto’s appointment follows the resignation of Akwasi Agyeman, who stepped down from the position just a week ago.
As the new CEO, Houadjeto is set to lead the GTA, a pivotal agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, which plays a crucial role in positioning Ghana as a top global tourism destination.
The Ghana Tourism Authority’s primary responsibility is to drive the sustainable development of the tourism sector, with a focus on promoting Ghana's rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and unique experiences.
In her new role, Houadjeto is expected to enhance the country's tourism offerings through the use of innovative technology, ICT, and effective regulation, ensuring that Ghana continues to grow as a leading tourism destination.
With her background in the NDC and a deep commitment to national development, Houadjeto is poised to bring fresh ideas and leadership to the GTA, strengthening its mission to showcase Ghana's tourism potential on the global stage
