Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) from 2013 to 2017, has expressed his joy following his acquittal of charges of causing financial loss to the state.
Dr. Opuni described his exoneration as a testament to divine intervention, stating that God has disgraced those who accused and prosecuted him unjustly for years.
“All power and authority belong to the Almighty God, not human beings. The living God I serve has disgraced and cursed my enemies, my persecutors, and all my destiny haters,” Dr. Opuni told the media on Tuesday, January 28, after the court ruling.
Earlier reports from ModernGhana News indicated that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, had withdrawn all charges against Dr. Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo.
State Attorney Ms. Enam Loh Mensah informed the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, of the Attorney-General’s directive to drop the charges, adding that a formal notice of withdrawal had been filed in line with the instructions.
Dr. Opuni and Mr. Agongo faced 27 charges, including defrauding by false pretenses, willfully causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, and corruption by a public officer, all in violation of the Public Procurement Act.
Both had pleaded not guilty and were granted self-recognizance bail of GH¢300,000 each.

Can the attorney general give his reasons for dropping all charges against them. I believe many will like to know his reason. Cause akuffo addo did same and was labelled master clearing agent. But our new attorney general cases dropped makes him worse than akuffo addo and godfred odame combined.
