George Opare Addo, the Minister-designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, has pledged to maintain an inclusive ministry, ensuring all Ghanaian youth benefit, regardless of political affiliation.
He revealed that his ministry will serve the interest of all Ghanaians and not the interest of the political party he represents.
These comments came on the back of a question a Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah asked him whether he would be open to work with the youth from other political parties.
He said, “Mr Chairman poverty knows no political colour and when Mr President nominated me, the first statement I put out was that my doors are open for anybody irrespective of political party, creed, religion or ethnicity.
“I am here to serve the good people of Ghana and as National Youth Organizer of the NDC, that will not limit me and I want to assure this committee that my doors will open to every young person who wants to see some development and improvement in his life."
“The good thing is that let me quote Elon Musk. He says 'your education doesn’t matter to me, give me a code and I will employ you.'
“I don’t care which political party you belong to, give me a proposal that will create jobs for young people and I will work with you,” he told Parliament’s Appointments Committee on January 22, 2025.
Mr. George Opare-Addo Esq. is a lawyer, local government official, business executive, and accomplished organiser in the NDC.
His political activism and organisational skills earned him the position of National Youth Organizer of the NDC, a role he has held since 2018.
During this time, he has mentored several young men and women who now hold key positions within the NDC. He is a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly (2009- 2017).
