Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection nominee, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has assured that once approved, the Ministry will explore ways of providing affordable sanitary pads for vulnerable girls.

This she believes will ensure girls do not fall prey to men when offer to buy sanitary pads for them in exchange for sex, leading to teenage pregnancy.

“There must be a way to provide affordable sanitary pads for vulnerable girls so they don't fall prey to the men who buy it for them,” Agnes Naa Momo Lartey said on Wednesday, January 22, when she appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament for vetting.

At the vetting, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection nominee disclosed that the Ministry will set up a Child Support Scheme to provide support for vulnerable children, orphans and children rescued from trafficking.

On the issues relating to the school feeding programme, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey proposed that the processes should be decentralised.

She holds the view that decentralisation will ensure the timely distribution of food to all the schools.

“Decentralising the school feeding program will ensure timely food supply and quality control,” Agnes Naa Momo Lartey said.
