Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, is poised to become Ghana’s next Majority Leader, this portal has learned.
Insiders within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) confirm that the party is reorganizing its parliamentary leadership following President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to nominate the current Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as Finance Minister.
Ayariga, a veteran lawmaker with extensive knowledge of parliamentary procedures and a reputation for fostering consensus, has been identified as the ideal candidate for the role.
With a distinguished career in Ghanaian politics, Ayariga has held several key ministerial positions, including Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Minister of Information. His considerable experience in governance, combined with his eloquence and strategic insight, positions him to effectively steer the Majority caucus, particularly as the NDC commands a dominant presence in Parliament.
