The plaque on the statue of the late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills at Asomdwee Park, his final resting place, has been repaired after being vandalized.

The original plaque, which credited President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, for its unveiling, has been replaced with a simpler inscription.

The new plaque reads, "Here lie the mortal remains of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, 21 July 1944 - 24 July 2013, President of the Republic of Ghana, 07 January 2009 - 24 July 2012."

Samuel Koku Anyidoho shared the update on social media, contrasting the original plaque with the new one.

In a reflective post, he stated, “The original writing and the new one. The heavens have already declared the glory of God."

The vandalism, which came to light on January 8, 2025, left the original plaque shattered, though the statue of Prof. Mills remained intact.

While the motive and identity of those responsible for removing the plaque remain unclear, the incident has sparked discussion, as Asomdwee Park is a state property dedicated to honoring deceased Presidents of Ghana.

Koku Anyidoho expressed his disappointment and sought solace in faith, writing, "This just happened @ Asomdwee Park. My Bible tells me that 'In All Things' (not in some things), I should give thanks to God. I am also singing... 'It is well with my soul'. To God be all the glory, and my prayer is for God to continue blessing my beloved Homeland Ghana."
