Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency, John Abdulai Jinapor is set to become Ghana’s next Minister of Energy, pending approval from Parliament.
His nomination for the position has been confirmed by President John Dramani Mahama today, Thursday, January 9.
His name as Minister for Energy Designate has been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
Before he faces the Appointment Committee set up by Parliament, here are some things you need to know about John Abdulai Jinapor.
Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor brings a wealth of hands-on experience, competence, and know-how to the energy portfolio.
With his extensive qualifications, particularly in energy economics and finance, he is expected to bring much-needed dynamism and capabilities to transform the energy sector.
Hon. Jinapor holds a Master of Arts Degree (MA) in Economic Policy Management, an MBA in Marketing and a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Finance from the University of Ghana.
He also holds a Master of Science (MS) Degree in Energy Economics from GIMPA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London.
Set to occupy a very sensitive sector as the Ministry of Energy, much will be expected of John Abdulai Jinapor.
He must bring his experience to use and show competency to keep the lights on for Ghanaians.
