Akuffo Addo Is Still In The Shadows

A new dawn has come; Ghana is rebirthed. Ghana's "second independence" has arrived; it is a new beginning after Ghana's worst political mistake in 2016 that brought Akuffo Addo who is judged to be the worst leader Ghana ever had since Gold-Coast.

The deceitfully packaged Akuffo Addo who hitherto was seen as a man who believed in the rule of law and won the trust of Ghanaians, turned to abused and misused the power given to him in trust by the people of Ghana. The 8-year period of Akuffo Addo's governance was and will remain the worst Ghanaian nightmare, and that has reflected in every sector of the Ghanaian socio-political and economic system.

The earlier the Akuffo Addo's shadows are wiped away from the governance system of the country, the greater the success of the new government. That was a regime that appointed hundreds of unmerited individuals who are NPP fanatics and tribal bigots in decision-making positions in sensitive state institutions, with the sinister motive of gradual capture of the state.

These are unpatriotic citizens who choose party over the state and are ready to do anything, including setting up, sabotaging, and spying on government officials, especially political appointees. Concealing and distorting information, leaking confidential documents, deliberate actions to engineer labour unrest are a few of the many diabolical behaviors that these unscrupulous people will quietly and strategically put across to ensure the failure of the new government.

Majority of the Ghanaian people are not oblivious to the severe damage caused to this state in every sphere of life by Akuffo Addo and how he compromised key state institutions by appointing his poodles so he and his family could get away with murder.

This constant abuse of power by Akuffo Addo and his appointees with impunity is the main reason the people of Ghana gave their overwhelming mandate to John Mahama so he can right the wrongs of Akuffo Addo. John Mahama has no excuse to lament over anything with this absolute power and authority given to him by the people of Ghana. Majority of Ghanaians expect John Mahama to utilize the mandate given to him by them to swiftly clean the judiciary, security, investigative agencies, electoral commission, financial and revenue generation institutions, and state-owned enterprises of undesirable characters planted by Akuffo Addo and the NPP.

Where there is a will, there is a way. The new government must use every means available to it to sanitize the system and make a way for a progressive society, serving the interest of Ghanaian masses whose mandate it is executing. Legal process is not the only means to clean these scary shadows of Akuffo Addo and the Akyem-Mafia planted in the system. The government could use political tools at its disposal to uproot these dangerous stumps on its way to have the freedom to operate to fulfill the promise made to the good people of Ghana.

Even the previous NPP government that appointed party fanatics onto the bench, and with all the political support that the bench gave them, they sometimes had to use unconventional means using political power to achieve their parochial interest.The new government will be hallucinating to ever think that it can use the legal process to achieve a significant action that has a political implication in its favor or against the opposition NPP.

In a judicial regime where the bench is willing to serve a partisan political interest by abusing desecration, misinterpreting and misapplying the laws to satisfy personal interest is the last avenue the new government should think of going to get validation of its political decisions.

Your Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the earlier and swiftly you clear the deadly shadows of Akuffo Addo from the system, the greater will be the success of your administration. Any excuse or lamentation by your administration as a result of a failure to take the above-raised issues into consideration will be treated with the contempt it deserves, and posterity will not judge you kindly in this your second coming.
