The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat has unveiled plans to integrate Ghanaian National Service Personnel (NSP) into its operations starting in 2026.
This initiative underscores the Secretariat's dedication to providing opportunities for young talent and enhancing the engagement of Ghanaian professionals with international institutions.
The announcement was made by AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene during a meeting with Ghana's President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on the initiative, Secretary-General Mene highlighted the value of incorporating Ghana’s National Service Scheme (NSS) into the Secretariat’s activities.
He expressed confidence that this collaboration would strengthen the connection between local expertise and the broader goals of African integration.
“I am also proud that we have integrated the National Service of Ghana into the AFCFTA Secretariat so the young people that will be doing their National Service across the institutions and the agencies of Ghana will now be able to also have the AFCFTA Secretariat as one of the agencies where they can be deployed.”
Headquartered in Accra, the AfCFTA Secretariat coordinates the operations of the world’s largest free trade area, bringing together 54 African nations under a unified market.
