The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured an interlocutory injunction to halt the re-collation process for four outstanding constituencies in the Eastern Region including Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
The re-collation, initiated due to alleged discrepancies in the figures on the pink sheets, began on Thursday, December 12, at the Tesano Police Depot.
It was scheduled to continue on Friday, December 13. However, the process was abruptly stopped following an announcement by the Electoral Commission’s returning officer, who confirmed that the commission has been served the injunction.
The NDC has raised concerns over the process, with party Chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia stating that the party was neither involved nor informed about the re-collation taking place at the Police Detective Academy in Tesano, where the police are assisting the Electoral Commission. He described the process as a violation of the law and electoral procedures.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring electoral fairness and transparency, vowing to take all necessary steps to prevent what he called an illegal re-collation.
He also issued a strong warning to influential individuals, including traditional leaders, cautioning them against interfering with the electoral process.
The NDC maintains that the ongoing process undermines the principles of electoral integrity and has reiterated its determination to uphold the law in protecting the rights of voters in the affected constituencies.
