Ghanaians went to the polls on December 7 to exercise their constitutional right to elect the President and Members of Parliament for the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic. It is with immense pride and joy that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the President-Elect, His Excellency Mr. John Dramani Mahama, and the 186 Members of Parliament-elect from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who will serve the nation with honour and diligence.
This victory, a historic and decisive mandate, underscores the trust and confidence the people of Ghana have in the leadership and vision of Mr. Mahama and the NDC. The overwhelming margin of nearly two million votes in the presidential race, coupled with securing more than two-thirds of the parliamentary seats, is not just a triumph but a resounding endorsement of the NDC’s agenda for a prosperous Ghana.
We reflect on the arduous journey that has brought us to this moment. It will be recalled that in the 2020 elections, our candidate, Mr. Mahama, was denied the presidency despite compelling evidence of irregularities. The biased actions of the Electoral Commission and the infamous “Unanimous Football Club” tested our resolve. Yet, in the face of such adversity, the NDC remained undeterred, steadfastly focused on championing the cause of the Ghanaian people. This unwavering determination has culminated in a victory that will be etched in the annals of our democratic history.
The December 7 elections showcased the NDC as the true party of the people. Breaking long-standing records, we flipped more than ten constituencies that had eluded us since 1996. This achievement is a testament to the Ghanaian people's deep understanding and trust in our manifesto, especially the groundbreaking vision of a 24-hour economy. It signifies a collective belief in the leadership of John Dramani Mahama and the transformative policies the NDC is poised to implement.
The NDC Holland Chapter proudly congratulates President-Elect John Dramani Mahama and the 186 Members of Parliament-elect. We are confident that this new leadership will uphold the party's commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability. We trust they will prioritize the aspirations of the Ghanaian people, delivering on promises and setting a legacy of impactful leadership for future generations.
This victory, however, would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our party's national, regional, constituency, and branch executives. Your unwavering dedication and strategic acumen galvanized our supporters and energized our campaign. To our diaspora Chapters, particularly those who contributed resources, both financial and human, we owe a debt of gratitude. Your unwavering support exemplifies the spirit of unity and solidarity that defines the NDC.
We also extend our appreciation to Ghana’s security forces, electoral officers, and other stakeholders who ensured the conduct of a peaceful and transparent election process. To our NDC members and supporters across Ghana, your resilience, belief in our vision, and commitment to our shared ideals brought this victory to fruition. Finally, to the millions of Ghanaians who participated in this democratic exercise, thank you for your faith in the process and for choosing the path of progress and transformation.
As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, let us remember that the journey ahead requires unity and unwavering dedication to the principles that have brought us this far. We must strive to create a government that exemplifies the values of equity, integrity, and innovation, one that prioritizes the well-being of every Ghanaian.
Under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, we are confident that Ghana will experience an era of unprecedented development and inclusivity. Together, we will build a nation that offers hope, opportunities, and prosperity for all.
As we say in the NDC: “EYE ZU, EYE ZA!”
God bless National Democratic Congress
God bless our Homeland Ghana
