Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi will operate its first-ever direct flights to London Gatwick Airport starting December 3, 2024.
This historic move is the result of a collaboration between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Ethiopian Airlines.
A press release issued by GACL on Thursday, November 28, stated that the partnership aims to enhance international travel and boost connectivity between the Ashanti Regional capital and one of Europe’s busiest airports.
The initial flight is scheduled to depart London Gatwick at 2:10 a.m. and land at Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport at 9:05 a.m.
The return flight will leave Kumasi at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in London at 6:00 p.m.
Management noted that the second flight is scheduled for December 15 to cater to the anticipated increase in demand during the festive season.
“Subsequent flight schedules will be published in the coming weeks,” the statement added.
