Some residents in the Asante Akyem North constituency in the Ashanti region have pledged their support for Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the independent parliamentary candidate for the upcoming December 7 general elections.

The residents believe that Mr Frimpong is the only candidate capable of bringing development to the constituency.

This strong backing is based on the numerous development projects Ohene Kwame Frimpong has initiated and is currently working on in various communities within the constituency, using his personal funds despite not holding a political office or being a member of any political party. His selfless contributions to the community have earned him significant admiration.

Among the many initiatives, Frimpong has reconstructed the Masjid Ohene Kwame Frimpong Agogo Central Mosque, which consists of a clinic, kitchen, wash and toilet, built three additional classroom blocks for Savior School, and constructed modern toilet facilities for residents in Wuramponsu, Annisua, Wioso, and Akutuase. Additionally, he has commenced the construction of the Abrewapong Clinic, teachers’ quarters at Onyemso, and the construction of a mini-market (48 stores) at Akutuase.

In terms of employment, OK Frimpong established Salt Media, which has provided jobs for over 40 youth in the constituency. His commitment to education is also evident; he believes that every child deserves access to quality education.

He supplied desks to schools, organized competitions for basic schools, and even treated the winning students on a trip to Dubai. Furthermore, Frimpong has provided tricycles to transport students to school daily, easing the burden on families.

Speaking to Gift Osokumkum, a resident of Wuramponsu, she expressed their unwavering support for Frimpong. "We do not know any candidate apart from Mr. Ohene Kwame Frimpong. Based on his good deeds, we will vote for him massively to win the Asante Akyem North seat in the upcoming elections," she said.

She also shared her dissatisfaction with the current Member of Parliament, Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, stating that the incumbent had not contributed significantly to the community.

"For years now, both males and females have used the same toilet, and we have had to adjust to open defecation, which is against the laws of the country. The current MP only appears in the community during election years. We do not know him, so we will vote against him," she added.

Kwesi Appiah, a resident of Akutuase, also expressed his reasons for supporting Frimpong. He praised the candidate for his kindness, trustworthiness, and integrity. Appiah shared how Frimpong stepped in when the community’s market was destroyed.

"We spoke with our MP, Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, but he did not even visit the community to assess the damage. However, when Ohene Kwame Frimpong heard about the situation, he came to our aid. He is currently constructing a 48-seater community mini-market for us. This is the person we know can do the job," he said.

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, widely known as Salt, has become a household name in the Asante Akyem North constituency. His posters can be seen on walls and cars, and he is greeted with excitement by residents, especially the youth. With such overwhelming support, the constituency appears ready to vote in large numbers for him, eager for a representative who has already demonstrated his commitment to their welfare.
