Joy News has learnt that the strain of bird flu discovered in the country last week is believed to have come from the Ivory Coast.
The reports are said to have been conclusions from analysis performed on the virus found on a farm in Tema by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
According to Dr. Kiki Moto, a veterinarian with the Veterinary Services Department, the analysis found a strain very similar to ones discovered in the Ivory Coast.
He said the virus could have come from other sources, however the strong closeness in the status of the Ghana/Ivory Coast strain makes the Western neighbour the sure source.
Meanwhile the results of the analysis are said to have been confirmed by other reports linking a poultry farm here in Ghana with other farms in the Ivory Coast.
