The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has blamed the death of the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the KAMA Group, Dr Michael Agyekum Addo on the government’s haircuts.
He claimed that Dr Michael Agyekum Addo and many others have died after being significantly affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP) initiated by the government through the Ministry of Finance due to huge debts.
According to him, the ruling government took a lot of loans from other countries leading to the introduction of the Domestic Debt Exchange program.
He disclosed that the NPP took about $11.5 million dollars. “Since 2016, this government has taken loans from other countries amounting to $11.5 billion. It got to a time, they couldn’t pay the loans so what they did was, if you are an ordinary Ghanaian and you purchased bonds or treasury bill with the government, they refuse to pay,” he said during one of his campaign tours.

John Mahama made reference to the late CEO of KAMA Group who came out to lament over the refusal of the government to pay him his money after years of investing.
“He’s not the only one, a lot of pensioners who thought they would have money to depend on when they come on pension are all suffering and are in pain due to the refusal of the government to pay of money they owe them,” John Mahama lamented.
John Mahama slammed the NPP for destroying the lives of many others after they collapsed the banks in 2017 adding that the NPP had no shame for asking Ghanaians to vote for them again after causing loss and pain to Ghanaians.
