The Government will launch the first-ever digital music streaming platform for Ghanaian musicians, film producers and content creators in November this year.
The music streaming platform was made possible through the collaboration of the government and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMBRO), the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and music producers in the country.
The platform will also be a medium for tracking, collecting and distributing royalties, revenues and offering opportunities for musicians, film producers and content creators in Ghana.
The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, announced this during an engagement with players in the arts and creative industry in Accra on Wednesday.
Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to nurturing local talents in the arts and creative industry to create jobs for the youth.
The NPP Flagbearer said under his presidency, he would facilitate special financing and guarantee support for musicians and content creators through the Development Bani of Ghana to boost their work.
Dr Bawumia also pledged to set up the National Hospitality Training School to train personnel to offer professional services in the tourism industry.
Regarding visa acquisition, the NPP Flagbearer assured the government that it would prioritise the acquisition of electronic visas (e-visa) for international travellers visiting Ghana.
That, he said, would boost the number of tourists to Ghana and increase its foreign earnings tremendously.
Dr Bawumia assured that his government would prioritise the completion of the conference facility located at the Ghana International Trade Fair site.
The NPP Flagbearer stated that his administration would introduce tax incentives for the creative industry to accelerate growth.
“… I met the Pope in Rome recently and I asked for his advice; and so I asked for his permission to say this…The Pope told me, “If you are a leader, you must listen a lot before you take any decision,” Dr Bawumia stated.
