As we approach the 2024 general elections, disturbing developments have emerged that expose the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana as an arm of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), operating under the shadows of the Jubilee House. This growing perception is based on clear indicators of electoral tampering, aimed at manipulating the electoral roll in favor of the failed NPP administration of Dr. Bawumia. The transfer of votes by EC officials, such as in the Pusiga case, reveals a well-orchestrated plot, positioning the EC as nothing more than a technical annex of the NPP.
The Pusiga incident was not just a rogue operation but rather a calculated test run for the NPP’s nationwide strategy of transferring votes from NDC strongholds to more favorable constituencies. This is no mere clerical error—it is a diabolical, systematic form of electoral manipulation that could lead to widespread disenfranchisement of voters with emphasis on NDC registered voters.
Ghana is home to over 35,000 polling stations, and the NPP is betting on what they call a “technical” win by shifting votes in small increments—10 votes per polling station—from NDC-dominated areas to other constituencies. The plan is subtle but highly effective. If you multiply 10 votes across 35,000 polling stations, that results in a staggering 350,000 votes being siphoned from the NDC to unknown locations. Such minor adjustments are enough to drastically alter the electoral outcome without raising immediate suspicions.
For example, imagine a polling station in Ajumako Enyan Essiam where there are 400 registered voters. The EC and its NPP cronies may covertly transfer 10 voters from that NDC stronghold to an entirely different constituency. While on the surface, the electoral roll will still list 400 registered voters, the reality is that 10 NDC supporters have been quietly removed. Come voting day, those 10 individuals will be stunned to find that their names are not on the register, leaving them disenfranchised.
This level of trickery is designed to fly under the radar of the NDC’s electoral agents, as the provisional and final registers may still match in number but will differ in content. The goal is to weaken the NDC’s electoral base and shift votes to constituencies that favor the NPP. This makes it essential for the NDC’s election committee to scrutinize voter rolls at every polling station and prevent this electoral theft.
Adding to the growing suspicion is the appointment of Dr. Peter Appiahene as a commissioner of the EC. Known as an NPP communicator in the Ashanti Region and a prominent figure in TESCON (the student wing of the NPP), Appiahene’s presence in the EC raises serious questions about impartiality. His appointment is a direct move to entrench NPP’s influence within the EC, allowing for insider manipulation of electoral processes, such as the illegal transfers we’ve witnessed in Pusiga.
The NDC must take immediate steps to ensure its supporters verify their voter registration details before December 7, 2024. The Pusiga case is a glaring red flag, signaling the NPP’s broader strategy to rig the elections through technical means. This is not just about winning an election; it is about preserving the integrity of Ghana’s democracy.
The NPP’s backroom electoral strategies are designed to rob the people of their right to choose a leader freely. Ghanaians must remain vigilant and resist this blatant electoral coup. The country deserves a free and fair election, and John Mahama's leadership under the NDC promises to restore dignity to the nation’s democracy.
I must say that this year’s election is about more than political parties; it is about defending the nation’s constitution and democratic principles. The NDC, represented by the Umbrella, stands as the only viable choice to steer Ghana back on track. Say no to NPP and vote for nation-building under John Mahama. Reject Bawumia’s recycled leadership and vote No. 8 for Victory 2024.
NDC, Arise! Ghana, Arise!
