In a public lecture by one William Boadi, Executive Director of EAI, “Educate Africa Institute” on 19th Sep.2024, we hear lots of good words advising young girls not to turn to “Hook-Up” but to “Hard Work”!
Nice talk! but in Ghana we do a lot of talking but come short on real strategic solutions and ideas implementation !
What does it take to keep a young lady employed or to learn a trade or set up her small business?
It takes Cash! Small CAPITAL! Sika Dwetire!
Does our people in government or any District have any PLANS to talk about?
Does any town or district collecting taxes ever think a small portion could be set aside to LOAN to young women seeking to engage in their own small business?
Sometime I feel sad that educated men talk and talk and engage in what I call “useless dialogue” that leads to nothing!
It is time Ghanaians in Governance used their brains to solve problems of human life!
In the last 25 years going back and forth to my kontre Ghana and observing, one sees a Carpenter or Electrician or Mason or Plumber coming to start a job without appropriate or adequate tools like even a Power drill, a Pressure Gauge, a ladder, or even a Tape Measure! Almost none of them but one or two may have had any formal training and license!
For God’s sake! How the hell do we want our girls and boys to start life if we adults cannot even provide them with small LOANS to buy tools to start their chosen trade!!?
Isn’t it the same God in America that watches Africa? In over 50 years never have I seen an American handyman or craftsman without a small pickup truck! No!
For God’s sake let’s stop the Hypocrisy of sitting in Government offices and sitting in conference rooms doing the TALK and collecting envelopes with cash as “Sitting allowance” or going overseas and collecting “Travel per diem”! It is public theft! You all should be ashamed!
Those doing Government work should be ashamed of themselves!
