The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to complete the National Cathedral project if elected president, citing the significant state funds already invested in the construction.
The project, initially intended to be privately funded, has been embroiled in controversy after it emerged that over GHC339 million in state funds had been used.
During a media engagement on Sunday, August 25, Dr Bawumia emphasised the importance of completing the project, highlighting the money spent.
He proposed engaging with stakeholders, including churches, to determine the best way forward and explore potential funding options.
Dr. Bawumia also suggested that the design might need to be reevaluated to ensure completion, stressing the need for thorough discussions with church leaders and stakeholders.
“National Cathedral is a very important issue because taxpayers’ monies have gone into it and many people would like to see it completed. And I believe I should have engagement with the stakeholders and all the churches for us to see how best to get the funding to complete the project.”
“But I think that we need to sit down and talk if the design has to be looked at again to make it completed, we have to put everything on the paper. But I’ll be minded more by the churches and the church leaders and the discussions we need to have with them on the way forward.”

To hell with your national cathedral which will never save you and your Liliputian, considering the crimes both have committed against Ghanaians and the nation. There is no job people are suffering, including pensioners your government stole their money, but look at what you are saying. I am very sorry for you.
