Ubole Naa-Bouku Manorni Techomla II, the Sunyani Baasare Chief, has added his voice to the call on the youth to be politically tolerant and desist from any act that could destabilize the peace and harmony in the country.
He said it is incumbent on all Ghanaians to work towards sustainable peace in the country before, during and after the general elections on December 7.
“Anybody who asks you to foment trouble in the name of politics do not wish you well and so never listen to him. If you follow him and anything happens to you that person who used you for political gain will dump you after achieving what he wanted”, he added.
Ubole Naa-Bouku Manorni Techomla II was speaking to the media after he installed six sub-chiefs who will be working under him in Sunyani.
Many Baasare residents around Sunyani, representatives of the Sunyani Traditional Council and the public witnessed the ceremony, which was characterized by the rich cultural display of the Baasare community in Sunyani.
The new Baasare sub-chiefs are Ubore Ofori Nywetim, Kyidomhene; Ubore Kwaku Najombe, Sumankwaahene; Ubore Kwaku Yasambe, Kontrehene; Francesca Tawiah Kotob, Nkosoohemaa; Daapu Dorcas Tagba Oppong, Kyidomhemaa and Bridget Tabiayor, Dwantoahemaa.
They are to assist Ubole Naa-Bouku Manorni Techomla II, to foster unity and collaboration among Baasare residents in the area as well as seek their welfare.
He said the electorate should listen to all the political parties and their messages and vote accordingly devoid of any insult or violence.

“I’m imploring all Baasare people, especially the youth among them, to comport themselves during this electioneering and contribute to nation building in a peaceful manner”, he further advised.
On behalf of the new sub-chiefs, Daapu Dorcas Tagba Oppong,the Kyidomhemaa, pledged to work hard to bring all Baasare residents together and instill greater discipline, remind themselves about their history and culture, among others.
She said members of the Baasare community in Sunyani are about one hundred and meet at their chief’s residence fortnightly to discuss issues of mutual concern.
“There are a lot of our people too who are not even aware of our group so we will work hard to create awareness so that all Baasare residents in this area will hear and join us”, she said.
She pledged to devote much of her time to champion programmes aimed at promoting women empowerment and girl-child education.
