In a heartwarming gesture, the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Damongo Constituency Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, and the Tamawuta Foundation have renovated and handed over the Busunu Health Center to the West Gonja Municipal Health directorate.
The renovation valued at One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 100,000) aims to provide quality healthcare services to the community.
Speaking at the ceremony to hand over the health facility to the health directorate, Hon. Mutawakilu emphasized the importance of healthcare in the NDC's 24-hour economy vision, ensuring Ghanaians are healthy to work throughout the day.
He also promised to fix the broken ambulance and called on his opponent to return the donated ambulance that has gone missing.
"You know I am no more receiving NHIA funds, he ( current MP) is the one receiving it every year and cannot maintain his own ambulance that he has donated to the clinic. It's a shame. l will just discuss it with some few people that have always been there for me. I will discuss it with Alhaji Limuna, then I will discuss it with Lawyer Zankawa and channel it to JM. He will be willing to help."
The Tamawuta Foundation's executive director, Mrs. Hadrat Abubakari, highlighted the motivation behind the renovation, stating that a healthy community is a healthy people.
"When we came we realized that the health facility was in a very deplorable state so we had to go round to seek for support to just give it a facelift to make it conducive for our health workers. At least a healthy community is a healthy people," she stated.
The Program Manager for Tamawuta Foundation Mr. James emphasized the foundation's commitment to the welfare of the people, investing in a renovated health facility rather than sharing money among individuals.
A representative of the Busunuwura appreciated the renovation but also appealed for support for the Busunu D/A Basic School, highlighting the need for quality education.
"First of all, I am grateful to the Tamawuta Foundation for your relentless efforts in seeking for the progress of the community. In my opinion, when day breaks a day is subtracted from the year and gradually the workers here would leave us as time goes on. But our children would be expected to take on the mantle therefore we should concentrate also on their education. The classrooms of our wards are in deplorable state and even furniture for sitting are non existent."
Hon. Mutawakilu vowed to transform the health facility into a polyclinic when voted into power, demonstrating his commitment to the community's well-being.
The event concluded with a free health screening and education on climate change and environmental conservation for farmers.
